Travel Information

The conference will take place in the Science Congress Center Munich. The address is Walther-von-Dyck-Straße 10, 85748 Garching bei München.

The Courtyard Hotel, Mariott (one of our suggested Hotel options) is essentially in the same building. The address is Walther-von-Dyck-Straße 12, 85748 Garching bei München

LRZ, including SuperMUC and SuperMUC-NG, is just down the neighbouring street, see the birds-eye view screen shot below.

There is also a neutron reactor right next to the conference venue (“Atomei”, literally atom egg).
It will take 30 min by bus to get from the conference centre to Bräustüberl Weihenstephan on 13 September.
The Munich town centre (Marienplatz) is also roughly 30 min taking the underground. A day pass to reach the centre of Munich costs 11 euros.
Travel Directions

Public transport

Arrival by train: From the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) take the underground line U4/U5 to Odeonsplatz (two stops ahead).  Change there to U6 direction Garching-Forschungzentrum.

From Munich Airport (MUC): Three stops with commuter line S8 (direction Central Station) to Ismaning (takes about 14 minutes). From there change to the regional bus number 230 direction Garching-Forschungszentrum (takes about 19 minutes).

The underground station and bus station are about 2 min/150 m, from the Science Congress Center.

 

Taxi

From the airport: takes about 20 to 30 minutes, 30 to 40 euros charge.

From Ismaning: about 10 minutes, 12 to 15 euros charge.

From central Munich: about 30 minutes, 25 to 35 euros charge.

 

Car

 Whether from the south or north, take the A9 autobahn to the exit Garching Nord (exit no. 70 – Ausfahrt 70). Follow the signs to the “Forschungsinstitute” through the B11 intersection straight ahead following the street Ludwig-Prandtl-Straße, turning left at the end to Boltzmannstraße, turning right to Lichtenbergstraße, and finally turning right again to Walther-von-Dyck Straße.
